It may not be a well known fact that I have other cousins besides my best friend (and technically 2nd cousin) Amaya. Yep, I do! Erica and Kelly. They grew up in Alaska (where my Mom and Aunt were born and 1/2 raised).
It was hard to get together often, but thanks to a concentrated effort on my Aunt's part we had a lot of fun childhood visits in CA. I even went out to Nome, AK. when I was 12 and Erica and I hated each other the entire time. Incidentally that ended up being the last time the 3 of us cousins saw each other. I've seen my Aunt a quite a few times since then, but the kids had been elsewhere doing other things. We kept in touch via letters, emails, holiday calls, and we hear updates and see pictures of each other ALL the time from our Grandparents (there are NO secrets in this family and word travels FAST).
Now that we're all "grown up", Erica and Kelly are college students at the University of Portland. Seeing as I'm in Salem I thought there was no excuse for us to not try and co-ordinate our busy schedules for a minute of re-acquainting. Amazingly, we did!
And we got along great. :) My Highschool Best Friend, Kaci, has also re-located to Portland, OR. to be closer to family and work on her BS. We've known each other for 10 years. A lot of laughs, a lot of tears, a lot of adventures, a lot of fights, a lot of history.
