It was a first time for all of us. Yes, even me. One of the few touristy things I have never done when tourists (aka friends/family) come to down. I've gone down the South Street Seaport and gazed at the Statue from afar, but just never made it out to Liberty Island. Now that I have, I look forward to going again and really exploring it, along with Ellis Island. It's all free (aside from a $12 Ferry ticket) so there's no good reason not to (or to have waited this long)!
We rode the train down to South Street Seaport, met up with friends Karine (nanny) and Pearce (Hayden's best bud), and caught the Ferry.

Of course the boys had to have crowns (and a soft pretzel). Here's the Jasper we know and love
Upon arrival Jasper was amazed at how big the statue was:
"Oh my gosh, it's ginormous! I have to climb it!"
The boys were really excited to run around and play on the grounds.

It's nearly impossible to get them all looking at any time,
so I am THRILLED with this shot of H & J!
Jasper gave his best impersonation....
And then he got a torch, to really drive it home.
They ran around, romped and wrestled on the grass, stared up at the Statue....and then it poured rain on us so we sloshed inside for lunch and called it a day.
A very good day. :)
It's a 156 step climb, so we didn't make it up today (it'd be hard enough for me, let alone the kids) but hopefully another time!
Jasper still thinks "The Statue of Liberty is AMAZING!"
